I used this at the gym. Better than most, if not all, the rowing machines designed for the general public. But if you are a serious athlete you would be served better by the ergs manufactured for rowers.

1. The display/programs are not oriented towards the serious rower.

2. Although quieter, I am not a big fan of the magnetic resistance because unlike air/water resistance, it requires tinkering to get the best resistance for the intended piece. (In rowing, power output varies with velocity cubed which means a slight decrease in velocity is a large decrease in power output. If you go out a little hard or a little soft, your body will make the adjustment for you. The magnetic resistance makes this machine less forgiving.)

(3. I'm also not thrilled by the foot placement, but it might just be from what I am used to)

Notwithstanding, it is a great machine for the general public. Rowing gives you an excellent workout. And this machine is far better than most out there. It will challenge you and get you in great shape. I would recommend this machine to any of my non-rowing friends. (Posted on 4/27/11)

I just received it and it took less than 1 hour to assemble taking my time. Very straight forward to assemble. After using a few times - the rower is very sturdy and does not sway or give at all. I can tell it is very solidly built. Believe me I have purchased equipment previously and can tell the difference. That is why I purchased this machine because of the weight capacity - especially since I weigh 300lbs. So far very pleased! (Posted on 4/19/11)

I use my Rower twice a day. It's very well thought through [...]Workmanship and quality materials are what struck me immediately. The action is beyond smooth and it is absolutely quiet.I would highly recommend this product. You will not be disappointed!!

I've been using this machine for about a month now and all I can say is that this thing really gets your heart pumping. The presets are more than challenging and there's plenty of variable resistance to keep it interesting. It's quiet, smooth, all the things it claimed to be. About the only drawback is the size. This is a substantial machine, so I'd have to say make sure you have the space to set it up or store it, but aside from that I'd say by all means spend the few extra bucks and buy this rower.

The flexibility of easy program selection keeps exercising interesting. Also, it means that all members of a household, no matter their age or condition, can get the exercise that's right for them. I really should have started rowing long ago, as it is easy and fun, while provding excellent exercise.

I did lots of research before selecting a rowing machine, and all the great reviews I read on the LifeCore R100 were right on!
It was easy to assemble, and easy to use. I was also surprised at how quiet it is.
Really like the wireless heart rate monitor too.

I've been plagued with back and shoulder issues for months. Since that time, I've been looking for a cardio and strength routine that I could do without worsening my aches and pains. The LifeCore Fitness R100 Rower is the answer. Since getting this machine I've used it 3-4 time a week and love it. If you keep form (this is important), I don't experience any pain and I get a great total body workout. The quality of the machine and the exceptional features make this a real value. I like the interval training and heartrate programming options. This will be a machine I use for years to come.
